Process to Apply for a Lethal Weapons Certification Letter
Applicants applying for the Act 235 Lethal Weapons Training must first submit an application which may be obtained below or from the Lethal Weapons Training website at
www.lethalweapons.state.pa.us or by calling 717.346.4087.
Completed application accompanied with a certified check, cashier's check or money order in the amount of $80.25 made payable to "Commonwealth of PA." must then be presented, by the applicant, to any Pennsylvania State Police Station where fingerprints will be taken upon proof of age and identification.
The next step in obtaining your Lethal Weapons Certification Letter is the Physical Examination administered by a Pennsylvania licensed physician. The link to this form is provided below.
After testing is completed, the physician needs to forward it, within 15 days, to the address found at the bottom of the Physical Examination Form. The last step in acquiring your Lethal Weapons Certification Letter is the Psychological Examination performed by a Pennsylvania-licensed psychologist, licensed by a State Board of Psychologist Examiners.
The link to this form is also provided below. The psychologist must also forward the evaluation, within 15 days, to the address found at the bottom of the Psychological Examination form.

1) Basic Application for Agent Certification (SP 8-200)
2) Physical Evaluation (SP 8-200A)
3) Psychological Evaluation (SP 8-200B)
